Love Your Face

I love my face! In a caring, non-vain way.

I am so over using chemicals on my skin. Parabens are the worst (look them up) and are found in most beauty products. BUT there is hope. Several products have distanced themselves away from harmful cancer-causing chemicals and preservatives to give your skin the boost it needs. This Christmas I bought myself a new skin regimen and I am excited to share it with you.

If caring for my skin means researching products and spending a little more, then it’s worth it. Whether you have wrinkles or don’t want them, this is for you.

So, before I even put on any makeup, I do this:

Waso by Shiseido Lotion:

$32

Hydrate! I got so wind-burned skiing last week and was desperate for help. I found this in the airport, bought it, and have been using it since. It’s like a gel (so you only need a little) and it nourishes the even the most damaged skin. If my skin is really dry, I will add a thick layer at night.

TruSkin Naturals Vitamin C Serum: $20

This product has Hyaluronic Acid (a substance naturally present in the human body) that can help with aging. I just add a little before makeup to make sure my skin is properly hydrated (and because over time, this should help prevent wrinkles).

TarteGuard20 Tinted Moisturizer: $36

I have to admit, I never really jumped on the ‘sunscreen in moisturizer’ bandwagon until this week. After getting engaged and thinking about my future (lots of this!), I got serious. This product is a 3 in 1 sunscreen, lotion, and face tint (because if you use this all the time, your face should be whiter than the rest of your body).

Sponge Blender Set: $8

These things are magical best friends that every girl needs. My makeup artists introduced me to these puffy fellas and I am hooked. They are perfect for blending makeup and setting it so it lasts the day. If you buy a set you can use each color for different parts of your skincare process.

Organic Rose Water Facial Toner: $13

Spray this on your makeup sponge and dab it on your face just before you add your concealer or powder. It will boost your skin with minerals, shrink your pores, and help your makeup stay on longer.

Argan Oil: $12

I went to Morocco last year and fell in love with using Argan oil on my face as a moisturizer. My Algerian colleague also bought me some and said her mom uses it every day and still has no wrinkles! At night, I rub a dime-sized amount onto my face to soak in overnight (it also helps remove any lingering makeup). Because it’s an oil, I don’t use it in the morning and I try to avoid my hairline so I don’t wake up looking like a grease ball.
